OpenUJI / FU Digital Journeys

How do you actually get things done at FU?

Websites, portals, PDFs, search results. Contribute one real digital journey and help make the student experience visible.

A research pilot powered by Journey Lines.

One purpose → your own path

01 / Your starting point

One thing you genuinely need to do.

Choose your own purpose. No scripted task. No correct path.

  • Find a course
  • Understand a module
  • Locate a deadline
  • Register for something
  • Find a university service
  • Find information you need

Getting lost, searching elsewhere, going backwards, changing strategy or giving up are all meaningful parts of the experience.

02 / The contribution

Your purpose. Your attempt. Your choice.

The planned pilot process keeps the decision to contribute with you.

  1. Choose

Pick something you genuinely need to accomplish in FU’s digital environment.

  2. Record

Use Journey Lines while you try to do it. Follow the route you would normally take.

  3. Review

Inspect what was captured and remove material you do not want to contribute.

  4. Describe

Add a few words about your purpose and anything confusing, surprising or useful.

  5. Contribute

Share only when you are comfortable with the material and the research terms.

Participation is being prepared. Final recording, review and sharing instructions will be provided before sessions open.

03 / A shared map

Different paths. A common question.

Two students trying to find a course may take different routes. The project explores how to relate these experiences without erasing their differences.

One possible route

  1. Find a course
  2. Department site
  3. Course catalogue
  4. Course page

Another possible route

  1. Find a course
  2. Web search
  3. Course catalogue
  4. Course page
Illustrative routes, not participant recordings. Each contributed journey should remain connected to its own session.

04 / The research

Examples of experience, not population statistics.

Participation is voluntary. Contributed sessions show concrete experiences; they do not tell us how frequently a path is used across FU students.

The goal is to explore how independently contributed experiences can be compared, related and discussed as qualitative UX research material. Journeys can be represented using the open User Journey Graph format.

05 / Participation principles

Your journey belongs to you first.

The pilot is being prepared around these principles. Confirmed capture and sharing details will be available before participation opens.

  • You start it.

A session begins with your deliberate choice to record.

  • You stop it.

The recording has a clear boundary that you control.

  • You review it.

Inspect the captured material before deciding what to contribute.

  • You choose what stays.

The contribution process should let you remove sensitive or irrelevant material.

  • You decide to share.

Recording a journey does not oblige you to contribute it.
