OpenUJI / Journey capture

Capture journeys, not just clicks.

Turn a real browser session into structured evidence of what was visible, what happened, and how someone moved through a digital experience.

Every journey starts with a purpose.

Browser sessions → journey evidence

01 / The instrument

From a browser session to journey evidence.

Digital experiences rarely stay on one page. Capture the context that connects them.

01

Capture

Bring visual state, interaction and navigation together within a deliberate recording session.

02

Structure

Keep an inspectable sequence of states and events, instead of letting the experience disappear when the tab closes.

03

Research

Work with volunteered experiences and their context. A recording is qualitative evidence, not a measure of an entire population.

04

Interoperate

Create an evidence layer for User Journey Graphs and other open research tools.

02 / Follow the experience

The detours are part of the story.

A goal can lead through search results, websites and services. The route matters as much as the destination.

One session

  1. Start with a question
  2. Search
  3. Open a page
  4. External service
  5. Go back
  6. Find an answer
Illustrative journey. Recorded evidence can later be interpreted and represented as a path.

03 / An open evidence layer

A session today. A shared understanding tomorrow.

Recorder creates structured evidence that can be related, interpreted and represented as journeys.

User Journey Graphs (UJG) provide an open format for describing those journeys. The aim is to relate experiences while keeping each path connected to the session that contributed it.

04 / In the world

One instrument. Different contexts.

A pilot defines the question, the people and the research boundaries. Recorder supplies the capture infrastructure.

Built in the open

Make journeys inspectable.

Follow the experiment, explore the source, or see how Recorder is being used in the FU pilot.

Experimental infrastructure. Open to research, discussion and reuse.
